Wow!

So I posted my idea of my G.O.A.L. list on 9/17/11, Saturday night and the amount of support, suggestions and those willing to accompany me on my journey has been overwhelming. It's such a simple idea but I think it helps to put it on paper and put it out in the universe because, in my opinion you have a better chance of accomplishing your goal.

I'm so excited to get started and it seems like things just keep working themselves out. For example, I wanted to try more international cuisine and there was a Groupon for an Ethiopian restaurant that my coworker purchased because she knew how much I love food and my willingness to try almost anything and so we're going next week. How perfect is that???

I started with 18 items and now the list has more than 30 items and it continues to grow. Here are some of the newest items:

-attend a major sporting event (ex- Olympics, World Cup etc.)
-ride a horse <--- this one will be completed soon
-ride a camel
-participate in grape stomping (I'll tie this one in with my vineyard visit)
-see Beyonce in concert (regardless of the price) <-- can't believe that I haven't done this yet
-attend New York fashion week
-ride a mechanical bull
-participate in country line dancing while wearing a cowboy hat
-go to Vegas (will be accomplished in less than 3 weeks)
-play the slots and maybe black jack (will be accomplished in less than 3 weeks)
-take a kickboxing class
-white water raft
-belly dance
-zipline
-visit Africa (go on a safari)

...and it continues to grow... please, please keep the suggestions coming :-)

So it begins...

Hey y'all! ::in my Paula Deen voice:: So day today I came up with the idea that I would create a list... not that "bucket list" that everyone else talks about but rather a "get out and LIVE list." My "GOAL list" is basically an accumulation of things that I haven't tried before that I maybe was too afraid to do or never had an opportunity to do... it's basically my way of making sure that I'm not just existing but LIVING instead.

This is whole thing started when I paid my money for the the Richmond Sportsbackers Half-Marathon training on August 6th. If you would have asked me a year ago if I would have been keen on the idea of running 13.1 miles in a single event, I would have called you a bold-face LIAR! However, thanks to the encouragement of my friend, (another Amy K) I signed-up and now I'm loving every minute of it. Committing myself to this half-marathon training and running 3-4 times week; succeeding in my goals has given me the new sense of confidence.

Today, I ran 7.26 miles; a personal best for me. I have NEVER run that far in my life and never thought that I could. It just goes to show that you really don't know what you can do until well... you've done it. I'm trying to erase the word "can't" from my vocabulary because that will only limit me on how far I can/will go! I plan on blogging about my the various activities that I accomplish from the list... No clue how frequent these posts will be. It really all depends on how soon I can accomplish these items. I am so excited to really 'work my list.' Feel free to join me on my journey... and so it begins.

What I had as of 10 PM today... it's actually grown a lot since then :-)
